Peltonen M07 Ranger Knife Black Handle (Cerakote, Composite)
The J‑P Peltonen M07 Ranger Knife Black updates the legendary Peltonen M95 Ranger Knife. It has a shorter 119 mm blade, making it easier to handle for fine tasks. The knife maintains full functionality and works perfectly as a hunting, camping, or survival knife.
Retired Finnish Army captain Juha‑Pekka Peltonen designed the knife. During his military career, he served in **UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon and Cyprus. He noticed that most combat knives perform well in close combat but fail in everyday tasks. Soldiers need a practical knife for daily use. Inspired by his experience, Peltonen created a knife that combines combat efficiency and everyday usability.
He based the design on the traditional Finnish puukko. Peltonen merged centuries‑old Finnish shapes with modern materials and technology, creating a versatile tool suitable for both tactical and daily use. He named it Sissipuukko: “Sissi” means ranger or guerrilla fighter, and “puukko” refers to the traditional Finnish knife. Soldiers in the Finnish Defence Forces and Swedish Armed Forces widely use it.
Blade
The knife has a 119 mm hand‑forged blade made from 80CrV2 carbon steel, 4.25 mm thick and hardened to 59 HRC. You can sharpen it to razor sharpness, and it holds its edge exceptionally well.
The blade features a Scandi grind, with straight bevels meeting at zero. This shape delivers excellent cutting performance and handles woodworking tasks efficiently. The spine tapers toward the tip, increasing penetration ability. The Scandinavian grind also allows you to sharpen the knife easily in the field.
Handle
The handle uses the classic puukko shape with a mushroom‑style pommel for a secure palm grip. It fits a large hand and works well with gloves.
A small guard at the base prevents fingers from slipping onto the blade. The handle is made from TPE thermoplastic, giving you a solid grip even in wet conditions. Grooves on the lower handle improve safety and control.
Sheath
The knife comes with lightweight and durable composite sheaths that hold the knife securely in multiple positions. Peltonen added a unique EasyLock roller system: a rubber wheel in the sheath acts as a retainer. When inserting or removing the knife, the guard rotates the wheel, letting the knife slide smoothly while staying secure.
The sheath works with the MOLLE system, so you can attach the knife to belts, thighs, gear, or other equipment. A nylon strap secures the knife through dedicated sheath openings.
