Hortitsia
What do the Ligurian Sea and the largest island in the Dnipro river have in common? Or, let’s say, how could we join the middle 20th century classics with the modern days?
For sure, you’ve got it.
Today we’ll talk about air rifle ZBROIA Hortitsia.
The classic Monte carlo stock with a pneumatic system, which in general differs only by barrel length and air cylinder volume.
So, let’s take a closer look. The stock is a classical Monte Carlo style. The stock is made of Ash tree and varnished to protect the rifle from moisture. If you will get in the rain with Hortiza – the rifle will excuse you.
The handle of air rifle ZBROIA Hortitsia has become more massive, the thumb of the shooting hand fits better here.
The forearm is now flattened and the flat is lengthened so you can comfortably shoot from a standing position where you might want to rest your rifle on your fist or fingers. The fore end surface is equipped with an insert for the supplied QD swivel mount.
The butt pad is lowered down a little bit as before, and the classical Monte Carlo butt is the same as before.
The trigger mechanism is also changed. The steel trigger guard is not needed never more, so now it is the wooden part of the stock
New air fifle ZBROIA Hortitsia is equipped with the Fortner-Shutter bolt mechanism. This mechanism allows you to make shots with the record speed. One shot may take – attention from 3 to 4.5 ms – could you imagine such a high speed operating?
Now when you want to make a shot, you don’t need to keep your hand away from the handle. You only want to pull the lever back with your index finger and push it frontwards with your thumb. The hand remains at the handle, the index finger is placed on the trigger immediately.
In which situation will it deliver an advantage for you? If you are keen on the pneumatic triathlon or if you like to exercise unstable shooting positions, which are quite difficult for stabilisation of your body and aiming, this bolt mechanism is your reliable assistant.
You will not have to lose the balance. You will only need to make a slight movement by your hand and be ready to hit the target.
Round revolver-featured mags are now in the past. They are replaced with stick magazines. They have steel balls inside, which actually hold the pellets inside. This system is reliable due to its simplicity.
We have created a holder for magnets affixed to the butt. The compartments have the magnets inside which hold the magazines securely inside.
How to install the magazine?
Keep the recess upwards again, pull the bolt backwards, and just push the magazine inside the magazine compartment until it clicks. You will feel how it slides inside.
Now to load the rifle you only need to push the bolt forward and switch the safety off on the left side of the rifle. You are ready now to start shooting.
Like all PCP rifles, the Hortitsia also dislikes blank shots. In case you have already loaded it or closed the bolt without a pellet in the chamber, you only need to open the bolt again by holding the lever and pulling the trigger at the same time.
The rifle will thank you with a longer service life.
The air cylinder and the regulator are now upgraded to the newest versions and unified with the Kozak models.
By the way, regarding the air supply port. The port and the air cylinder cap are now upgraded to both simplify access to the port, and to prevent the trapping of any harmful dirt particles into the air system.
The combinations of barrel lengths and air cylinder volumes for both calibers are exactly the same.
- The 330 millimeters barrels are installed together with 200 cc cylinders,
- The 450 mm barrels are installed with 230 cc air cylinders.
- The 550 mm barrels are installed with 290 cc air cylinders.
If you prefer to use the ballistic calculator to get the elevation and windage corrections, I should add:
the rifling twist is left-handed, the step is 450 milliliters.
By the way, the supply kit of air rifle ZBROIA Hortitsia also contains two brass probes for pumping the air into the cylinders. And also there is an additional suppressor in the kit of Hortitsia 550/290. You may use it if you wish for quieter shots.
